At Revelette Wines, our mission is to craft wines that reflect the richness of Napa Valley and the spirit of discovery that guides us forward. We are proud to introduce Jonathan Walden as our Consulting Winemaker. A Napa-born vintner, Jonathan brings with him the experience of training under two of the most influential figures in modern winemaking: Philippe Melka and Thomas Rivers Brown.
Napa Roots and Early Inspiration
Jonathan’s story begins in Napa, where his love for Cabernet Sauvignon and vineyard life first took shape. Growing up surrounded by the valley’s landscapes gave him a deep appreciation for wine as both craft and culture. His path eventually led him to work closely with two mentors who have left an undeniable mark on Napa’s history.
Training with Philippe Melka
Philippe Melka is often described as one of the greatest consultants of his generation, bringing a Bordeaux sensibility to Napa Valley. His portfolio spans some of the region’s most celebrated estates, and his philosophy centers on allowing the vineyard to express itself through balance and restraint. Under Melka’s guidance, Jonathan gained a respect for precision and a belief that authenticity begins in the soil.
Guided by Thomas Rivers Brown
Working with Thomas Rivers Brown added another layer to Jonathan’s approach. Brown is widely recognized for shaping Napa Cabernet into wines of bold character and remarkable longevity. His reputation is built on an uncompromising pursuit of quality and an ability to produce wines that are powerful yet refined. From him, Jonathan learned how to embrace intensity while maintaining elegance and structure.
